Back Pain Management
Back Pain is extremely common -
about four in five people are affected at some point in their lifetime.
It is often very difficult to know exactly what causes back pain, but its usually thought to be related to a strain in one of the interconnecting structures of the back. Back pain caused by a more serious underlying condition is rare but if you have any concerns you should consult your doctor.
If you have low back pain you may have tension, soreness or stiffness in your lower back area. This pain is often referred to as non-specific back pain.
For most people with back pain, there isn't any specific underlying problem or condition that can be identified as the cause of pain. However there are a number of factors that can increase your risk of developing back pain or aggravate it once you have it.
- Standing, sitting or bending down for long periods.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling too heavy loads
- Having a trip or a fall
- Being stressed or anxious
- Being overweight
- Having poor posture
Bed rest may actually make low pain worse
Our Back Pain Management Courses use techniques from Pilates, Yoga & Rehabilitation Exercises to improve movement & mobility. During the weekly session you will be given exercises & postural advice aimed at helping you manage & alleviate back pain.
- Strengthen core muscles so they support the spine more effectively
- Correct Posture & muscle imbalances to help the body function efficiently & alleviate muscle tension
- Balance Strength with flexibility
- Aid relaxation & reduce stress levels with the use of breathing techniques & focus on letting go of tension
- Identify lifestyle concerns that may exacerbate back pain & create strategies to reduce the problem
